How to play Copy Cat
Type to escape. Copy to catch. Don't look back.
How to play
Two players, roles dealt at random. The Runner sees a secret message and types it out; the Copy Cat sees only the characters the Runner has already revealed (the rest are dots) and types to close the gap.
The Runner gets a head start before the Cat can begin. Both must type exactly — paste is disabled, and a shared track shows 🏃 versus 🐱 and the gap between them.
Scoring
- The Runner wins by finishing the message (Escaped) or staying ahead when time runs out (Survived). The Cat wins by reaching the Runner's cursor (Caught).
- Each multiplayer win adds one to your leaderboard total. Forfeits don't count, and rematches swap roles with a fresh message. Practice runs against the bot never touch the board.
Tips
- As Runner, steady beats bursty — every typo you stall on is free distance for the Cat.
- As Cat, you never have to think about what comes next; pure mechanical copying speed wins, so find a rhythm and lock in.
Frequently asked questions
Do both players see the same text?
No — the Runner sees the full secret message; the Cat only sees what the Runner has typed so far.
Can I play without a second person?
Yes — pick Practice vs bot in the lobby to chase (or be chased by) a server-driven opponent tuned to give a casual typist a fair fight. Practice is just for warming up, so it never counts toward the leaderboard.
